The
Mozambican political scientist João Pereira said today that the crises that
Mozambique through strongly discredit Frelimo, considering that the party in
power for more than 40 years proves unable to provide solutions to the problems
of the Mozambican people.
"These
situations all strongly descredibilizaram FRELIMO [Liberation Front of
Mozambique]," he told Lusa Professor of Political Science at the
University Eduardo Mondlane, on the sidelines of a demonstration against the
political crisis and the economic situation of the country, organized in Maputo
.For the Mozambican academic, the values for which the Frelimo fought for independence were forgotten and, in
recent times, the party led by Filipe Nyusi also head of state, went from a
political organization that responds to the needs of its people for a simple
machine electoral.
Unable to
meet the basic needs of its people and without political reforms that respond
to the dynamism of the new times, noted the political scientist, Frelimo risks
losing the next election claims, to the extent that the dissatisfaction of the
population grows gradually.
"If the
economic crisis increase, no doubt, the probability of winning is very small
for Frelimo," said the academic, warning that electoral abstention levels
in the last elections reveal a disbelief in policy by the Mozambicans.Skeptical
about the results of the negotiations recently re-established between the
Government and the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), João Pereira
believes that the process to end the political and military crisis will be too
long, noting that while the parties do not restore confidence, Afonso Dhlakama
will not come out of the bush to negotiate with the President, Filipe Nyusi."I
do not know if these committees will be able to reach agreements to facilitate
the departure of Afonso Dhlakama," he said, pointing to the requirement of
Renamo to govern the six provinces where claims victory in the 2014 elections
and the insertion frames Afonso Dhlakama of the party in police and army as
aspects that will create more disagreements in the negotiation process.
"We
will still have a very difficult time," he said, noting that in the near
future the situation will deteriorate, although the leaders of both parties
have recently expressed the ambition to end the political crisis in Mozambique. On
Thursday, the Mozambican president said he will accept the presence of
mediators in the negotiations between the government and Renamo, pointing an
immediate end to the fighting as a priority. The leader of the main opposition
party Mozambican said on Friday that reached by telephone consensus with the
head of the Mozambican state, Filipe Nyusi on peace, but it did depend on the
end of armed conflicts security guarantees.Mozambique has seen a worsening of
the clashes between the Defense Forces and Security and the armed wing of
Renamo, and mutual accusations of abductions and assassinations of militants on
both sides. The main opposition party refuses to accept the results of the
general elections in 2014, threatening to rule in six provinces where claims
victory in the poll.
