The
Economic Climate Indicator (ICE) of Mozambican companies rose in June for the
third consecutive month, albeit slightly, the National Statistics Institute
(INE) announced yesterday.
The
index rose from 96.6 in May to 96.9 in June, with the INE indicating that the
increase was mainly influenced by favourable employment prospects.
“The
economic climate indicator (ECI) rebounded slightly after the slowdown between
January and March, which was in line with employment expectations appreciating
positively over the period under review,” the Confidence and Economic Climate
Indicators bulletin reads. Employment expectations are in contrast to “the
demand outlook, which continued to decline for the second consecutive quarter”.The
Economic Confidence and Climate Indicators are a monthly publication on
Mozambique’s economic environment, compiled on the basis of an economic survey
conducted every month by the INE on non-financial sector companies. “The
study expresses the opinion of economic agents about the evolution and
perspective of their activity, particularly about employment, demand, orders,
prices, production, sales and activity limitations,” the Institute explains.
