Located in the neighborhood of Cariacó (in the area of the baobab), the said Mosque was closed about 11 months ago, due to a supposed connection with the evildoers.
"This Mosque was closed because it was necessary at the time to meet the challenges of the moment," explained Julio Parruque, governor of Cabo Delgado, adding that "now believers are aware that the Mosque should not be used for evil purposes ".
Speaking to those present, Julius Parruque said that the Mosques and Islam in Cabo Delgado should not be counted as the axis of evil.
He urged Muslims not to allow sacred places, such as the Mosque, to be trivialized, nor to use the Islamic faith to camouflage personal interests.
On the other hand, the Governor of Cabo Delgado asked for a greater vigilance, saying that the Government has always counted on the Muslims, not only for the large number of faithful, but also for their moral role in society.
Chek Nzê Assuade of the Islamic Council of Mozambique and Intizame Dulá of the Islamic Congress of Mozambique said they understood the motives that led the government to close down the Mosque. "We now have to thank the Executive of Cabo Delgado for having decided to reopen it. We are all very satisfied," they concluded.
