The
flight transporting Costa do Sol football team from Quelimane to Maputo was
forced to return and make an emergency landing at Quelimane Airport . Folha de
Maputo reported that one of the aricraft’s engines stopped functioning because
of a bird crush encounter, which resulted in one of the engines being damaged.
After
“delicate moments on board”, the same source added, “the passengers were
relieved when the plane landed at Quelimane Airport, where they had departed
about 15 minutes earlier, without any major damages.
The
Costa del Sol team is now stranded in Quelimane waiting for the plane to either
be repaired or for another aircraft to come to Quelimane and transport the crew
and other passengers back to Maputo.
