The Attorney General of Mozambique, Beatriz Buchili, the Director of the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption (GCCC), Ana Maria Gemo Bié and GCCC magistrates Eduardo Sumana and Cristovão Mondlane are among the members of the delegation attending the conference.
The annual conference is an opportunity for strengthening legal and judicial cooperation and for sharing experiences on the achievements of signatories in the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The Republic of Mozambique has been a party to the United Nations Convention against Corruption since December 2006.

Buchili drew attention to the Mozambican government’s approval of the law establishing the Principles and Procedures of International Judicial Cooperation in criminal matters, an instrument which will strengthen the public prosecutor in the fight against organised and trans-national crime, including corruption, and ongoing work on the approval of the Asset Recovery and Management Act, a key instrument in the fight against corruption, money laundering and other crimes.
Buchili also called on those present, as member states of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, to raise mutual awareness and collaborate through more flexible and less formal mechanisms for legal and judicial cooperation. She reiterated Mozambique’s commitment to eradicating all forms of corruption and its readiness to cooperate with other states in combating trans-national organised crime, particularly corruption.
