At least eight Inhambane tourist resorts have closed
their doors in response to Covid-19.
The tourism sector was expecting to earn more than 49
million meticais over the Easter period, but revenue estimates have now fallen to
around two million.About 95% of the more than 16,000 tourists expected over the
period have cancelled their reservations as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak,
and revenues the state had expected to collect will fall proportionately as
well.And, with no tourists to accommodate, eight tourist resorts have announced
the suspension of activities.Inhambane province has 11 people quarantined at
home, after arrived via countries with high levels of Covid-19 infection.
