IACM Circular 8/2020
of 11 May lays down that “the entry and exit of people into and out of
Mozambican territory is limited through the partial closure of its borders, and
international flight authorisations are now restricted”. Some flights, among
them aircraft in emergency situations, will be exempt from the restriction.
Exemptions include the
landing in Mozambique of cargo transport flights, flights of state interest,
technical (emergency) landings, humanitarian missions, medical evacuations,
repatriation flights and United Nations flights, all through “pre-authorisation
from Civil Aviation and Diplomatic Authorities”.
“This decision comes
after passengers on regular Ethiopian Airlines flights landing at Mavalane
International Airport were not subjected to any of the health controls
determined by the state of emergency regulations currently in force in
Mozambique.”
